The only continuous survey of radio's online audience... in progress since 2001.

From 1,316 online radio listeners.
Survey completed: November 16, 2009

Survey 45 Topics: Phone Book or Internet
Media Obsolesence
Listen to Next Year

Survey 45 demos are 74% male, and 24% female (2% abstained).

Note: Relative to the U.S. population,
and due to a number of popular "oldies" and "jazz"
stations running this survey, a disproportunately high
number of response was generated from the 55+ demo.
33.3% responding were male, 55+,
7.6% were female 55+.

We are in the process of soliciting radio formats
to bring respondent demos in-line with the population
at large.

Asked: Do you use the phone book, or look up phone numbers online?
With little growth since 2005, it appears that the public had already made its decision on which to use back then...

Question:
Of all the choices at right, which of the following do you think will become totally obsolete and disappear as a result of the Internet? (Select Only One)

24.8% of respondents see the encyclopedia as having the greatest potential to follow the dinosaur, followed closely by newspapers (22.8%).

23.5% feel that "none of the above" are likely to disappear due to the internet.

Looking into the Future

Survey respondents were asked
"By this time next year,
what do you see yourself listening to most?"

We asked that same question to 2,038
online radio listeners in early 2005.

Audio Graphics, Inc. started this internet radio listener survey system in October 2001. It is the only continuous surveying of the internet radio audience, and is currently conducted with oversight from leading research firm Borrell Associates.

With a fluxuating line-up of stations, covering a variety of formats, the demo breakouts do not exactly reflect that of the U.S. population. Answers, though, are coming directly from active internet radio listeners. Respondents may not vote more than one time in each survey, but are able to answer questions in as many surveys as they like.
