Payola Emails: Read 'em and Wince
Going over a selection of emails that New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer collected, you may wonder why some of these thoughts were put in writing (link below).
A few of the emails are damaging. One reads: "We ordered a lap top for Donnie Micheals at WLFY in Albany..." Most are just day-to-day correspondence.
There's one other item that needs to come to light, which has nothing to do with payola but everything to do with trusting request line callers. (You can't.) One email with a subject of "Pacifier Phones" reads as instructions to give each of 14 listed stations eight phone calls each: "...please be sure all callers are male...," and "...we are confirmed for a fee of $250 for the week..."
